The City of Lancaster operates five utilities that provide our citizens with natural gas, water, treatment of their wastewater, drainage of stormwater, and refuse collection. From our earliest gas wells in 1850 to our new state of the art water pollution control facility in 2011, our departments are committed to providing outstanding service to our customers while maintaining budgets, complying with safety and environmental regulations, and supporting economic development. There have been recent reports from our customers regarding false payment demands.
If someone identifies themselves as a city employee attempting to collect bill payment, please ask to see their employee identification and/or call us to verify information at 687-6627. If it is our employee, they won't mind waiting while you do so. Our employees wear a photo ID badge, a city issued uniform or shirt and would also be driving a city vehicle.
If this happens to you or you suspect it may be happening around you, please report it immediately to us or with the Lancaster Police Department.
