Homeowner Emergency Home Repair Assistance
Eligible repairs may include roofing, electrical, plumbing, heating/cooling, flooring, and other repairs that will correct minor existing hazardous living conditions in non-painted areas. The eligible repairs can not exceed the maximum grant amount. No repayment is required.
To Be Eligible for the Program, You Must:
- Be the owner and occupant of a single family dwelling unit within the incorporated area of the city of Lancaster.
- Be current on both mortgage and property tax payments.
- The household may not have more than $5,000 in cash assets at the time of the application.
- An on-site inspection by the CDBG Housing Program Coordinator will be required to determine the work scope of the minor home repair project.
The total household income must not exceed the following low and moderate income guidelines:
- 1 Person: $41,650
- 2 Person: $47,600
- 3 Person: $53,550
- 4 Person: $59,500
- 5 Person: $64,300
- 6 Person: $69,050
- 7 Person: $73,800
- 8 Person: $78,550

The submission of an application does not guarantee assistance.
Homeowners may only be awarded one grant from this program.
Upon program approval, the homeowner will then procure and submit three bids for the work to be completed from licensed city contractors to the Community Development Department.
The city will not discriminate against any application on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, familial status or handicap. The Homeowner Emergency Home Repair program guidelines are available in alternative formats upon request.
The city of Lancaster's Homeowner Emergency Home Repair Assistance Program is financed through funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
