Title: Senior Attorney
Matthew Wideman graduated from University of Cincinnati in 1999 with
a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. While pursing his
Bachelor’s degree, Matt was appointed by Governor George V.
Voinovich to serve a two-year term as the Student Trustee on the
Board of Trustees of the University of Cincinnati. He was also
awarded a Hometown Hero award from the Cincinnati Enquirer in
December of 1997, and the 1997 College of Business Administration
Spirit of Community Award for his dedication to community service.
Additionally, he was awarded the 1999 Mr. Bearcat Award presented to
the outstanding graduating senior male.
Matt received his Juris
Doctor degree from the Ohio State University in 2002. He has been
admitted to practice law in Ohio’s state courts, and the United
States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
Matt worked as an attorney
for two years in private practice, prior to joining the Law
Director’s Office of the City of Lancaster as an Assistant
Prosecutor in 2004. He currently serves the office as the Senior
Attorney.
Matt is a Captain, and
Judge Advocate, in the Ohio Army National Guard Judge Advocate
General Corps. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate
General’s Legal Center and School’s Officer Basic Course (where he
attained Commandant’s List Honors) in Charlottesville, Virginia, and
of the Basic Officer’s Leadership Course (DCO), from the U.S. Army
Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Matt deployed with the 1st
Battalion, 145th Armor Regiment, from September, 2008, to
September 2009, and served in the Sinai Peninsula with the
Multinational Force and Observers. He currently serves as the
Deputy Staff Judge Advocate to the Ohio Homeland Response Force (OH-HRF),
the first of its kind in the nation.
Matt has served as served
as a Big Brother in the Fairfield County Big Brother’s Big Sister’s
school-based mentoring program for three years, and currently serves
on its Board of Directors. He currently serves as the Vice
President of the Fairfield County Bar Association Executive Board,
and has previously served as the Secretary and Treasurer of that
organization. Matt is an elected member of the Fairfield County
Republican Party Central and Executive Committees. Matt graduated
the Barrister Leader Program through the Columbus Bar Association in
2005. Matt is a member of the Lancaster Rotary Club # 375. Matt is
the Senior Warden of the Capital City Lodge of F&AM # 656. Matt and
his family currently live in Lancaster. |
