On November 1, 2008 the DARE Charger
won 2008 BEST
OVERALL APPEARANCE-SPECIALIZED VEHICLE
award at in the fourth annual
"Get Behind the Badge" police car show
in Whitehall, OH.

September 2008 saw the debut of the
Lancaster Police Department DARE Program
show car. The 2008 Dodge Hemi
Charger received a custom paint job by
Kumler Collision of Lancaster, Ohio, as
well as custom wheels from Huddle's Tire
and Auto Inc. of Lancaster.
Additional support came Milby's Muffler
Service, Vinyl Detail LLC, and D&M
Distributors. This project was
coordinated by Officer Chris Caton # 236
(pictured on the left) and was funded by
donations and money seized from illegal
drug dealers. The car will be used to
carry the DARE message to our community
and will be featured at local events and
activities.

- Mobile Data Terminals (MDT's)
installed in marked police cruisers.
Through awards from state and federal
grants, the Lancaster Police Department
purchased mobile data terminals for
nine vehicles in the marked cruiser
fleet. Installation began in late 2005
and is now complete. Officers now have
access to important data in the field,
as well as silent dispatching and
messaging.
