THE
CITY OF LANCASTER POLICE DEPARTMENT IS AN EQUAL

The Lancaster Police Department is seeking
qualified candidates for the position of police
officer. The Lancaster Civil Service Commission
offers entry-level police officer examinations on an
annual basis. To be notified of the next testing

The successful candidate will have:
- Reached the age of twenty one by the time of
appointment
- Graduated from a standard senior high school
or its equivalent
- An honorable discharge, if a veteran of the
armed services
- A valid Ohio driver's license
- Attained United States citizenship 20/20
Vision or corrected to 20/20, in each eye. Depth
and color perception must be normal.
Candidates must be able to pass:
- A comprehensive background investigation
- A polygraph examination
- A psychological assessment
- A drug screening
- A medical and physical fitness examination
- A credit history inquiry A criminal records
check
The department offers a lateral entry program for
current Ohio certified peace officers. Full time law
enforcement officers from similar jurisdictions may
receive seniority credit towards salary step
increases and other advanced benefits. Similar
benefits may be granted to out of state certified
officers, depending on circumstances.
