Chief Pillar has served the Lancaster Police Department since 1989. He grew up in Lancaster and graduated from Lancaster High School. He served four years in the United States Marine Corps after high school. He attended Basic Peace Officer Training at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy, where he received his OPOTA certification.
Chief Pillar earned the Chief’s citation of Valor and Chief’s citation of Merit while a patrol officer. He has served as a firearms instructor, Taser instructor, and SRT instructor during different periods. His last assignment was Deputy Chief of Police from 2015 until his latest promotion. He currently serves as the Chief of Police, a position he was promoted to in 2017.
He served as a pee wee football coach for fourteen years and was an assistant instructor of Tae Kwon Do at a local school.
Chief Pillar and his wife Patricia live in Lancaster. They have been married for twenty-five years.
