Deputy Chief Shupp has served the Lancaster Police Department since 1994.  He attended basic peace officer training at the Central Ohio Police Officer Training Academy in 1994, received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Cedarville College in 1998, and graduated from the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command in 2011.

Deputy Chief Shupp has served as a patrol officer, detective, special response team member, detective bureau supervisor, narcotics unit supervisor, patrol supervisor, and watch commander during his time with the department.  He currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Police, a position that he was promoted to in 2017.

Deputy Chief Shupp and his wife, Hera, live in Lancaster. They have been married since 1993.
