On August 9, 2017, The Federal Emergency Management Agency issued a public notice for a proposed Letter of Map Amendment for Lateral A within the City of Lancaster. The proposed amendment affects Lateral A between the Hocking River and Columbus Street.
There is a 90 day appeal period that runs from August 16, 2017-November 14, 2017. FEMA will review all the appeals and then issue a final map. They expect the map will be finalized by December 2017.
Appeals to the maps may be made on the basis of technical or scientific corrections supported by studies or by documented changes to the floodplain. A copy of the appeals from along with two copies of the documentation must be submitted to the Lancaster City Engineer, 121 E. Chestnut St, Suite 100, Lancaster OH 43130 by 4 pm on November 14, 2017. The City of Lancaster only administers the flood maps and is not a party to the mapping process and cannot make changes to the maps. Only FEMA can make changes to the maps.
