Yard Waste Guidelines
Yard waste is collected seasonally on the same day as your trash pick-up.
Year-round residents may bring yard waste to the city Transfer Station for disposal at no charge.
Residents must present city utility bill and driver's license to show proof of residency at the Sanitation Department office.
ALL yard waste must be set out to the STREET by 7:30am on your scheduled pick-up day. Even if your trash pick-up location is in the alley, yard waste must be set out to the street.
Yard waste must be tied in bundles not exceeding four feet in length and two feet in diameter or weigh no more than fifty pounds each; or
Yard waste must be placed in bio-degradable paper bags weighing no more than fifty pounds each when loaded with yard waste.
Co-mingling of yard waste within the same container as acceptable waste is PROHIBITED.
Residents may opt to use a designated trash can for yard waste instead of bio-degradable paper bags by painting a green ring around the middle of the trash can (see example below).
Acceptable Yard Waste -- leaves; grass clippings; brush; tree trunks and stumps; prunings from trees or shrubs; any plant materials from residential trees and edible gardens; decorative plant materials that do not contain plastic, metal, polystyrene or other non-compostable material, including but not limited to any of the following: pumpkins or gourds, hay or straw bales, holiday trees, discarded or potted flowers, wreaths, and grave blankets.
