On July 8, 2021, Love's Travel Stops & Country Shops, Inc. submitted an application for rezoning 25.8723 acres of vacant land between South of State Route 188 and east of U.S. 33 currently located in Hocking Township. The property will be subject to annexation to the City of Lancaster prior to the zoning change.
The property is currently zoned Neighborhood Business (NB) in Hocking Township, but the petitioner has proposed to change the zoning to Commercial High Intensity once the property is annexed into the City.
The first step for this zoning change request is for it to go beforeLancaster City Planning Commission. Once Planning Commission makes its recommendation, that recommendation, along with the application, will be forwarded to City Council for consideration. Once City Council has conducted their public hearing, they have the ability to vote on the application.
The general timeline for the rezoning process is as follows (the timeline does not include all considerations and you should refer to Lancaster Codified Ordinance Chapter 1147 for more details):

Required public notification (Letters, Newspaper Advertisement, and Signage) provided by July 23, 2021
Planning Commission hearing on August 12, 2021
Planning Commission will forward their recommendation within 20 days of their vote to City Council. City Council will hold a public hearing prior to their vote.
