LANCASTER MUNICPAL GAS (LMG) NATURAL GAS RATE INCREASE

LANCASTER MUNICPAL GAS (LMG) NATURAL GAS RATE INCREASE
As a result of increases in the cost of gas purchased by LMG, the price of gas paid by residents will be adjusted from $.68 per hundred cubic feet (ccf) to $1.00 per ccf effective for gas used on/after August 1, 2022.  This increase will be reflected in the September utility bill.  This price increase has been delayed as long as possible with the hope that the market cost would come back down.  The billing for gas purchased by LMG on the NYMEX market is currently running between $1.6 and $1.7 million per month when a year ago it was $.5 to $.6 million.
The new rate charged by LMG ($1.00 per ccf) also includes the cost of transporting purchased gas from the production site to Lancaster via pipeline and the cost of storing gas purchased during the summer months when demand is low for use during the cold months when demand is high.  The base monthly fee of $6.00 and the volumetric fee of $.20 per ccf remain unchanged.
